This is part 2 in an 8 part series related to the video below...
There's nobody else on earth like you. You're unique. You have power and drive within you.
Bring that to your game! Bring your fire, your calm mindset, your thought patterns, your strengths to the forefront.
The truth is...
Nobody else can stop the puck for you. Mom can't. Dad can't. Coach can't. Only you can do and be you!
Of course, you'll draw inspiration from others. You'll watch the NHL or College or Major Junior and pick little attributes from the goaltenders at those highest levels.
But in the end, you have to take what you learn and apply it. Nobody else can do the learning for you.
In the grand scheme, there's not a ton that is completely within your control, but who you decide to be from day to day is one small thing that you can decide on.
You get to decide what ingredients you put in your personality soup.
You have your own past experiences to draw on and your own future goals. Nobody else is like you!
You have different strengths and weaknesses. Build on both.
You have different interests outside of hockey too! Like me playing the piano, you might be interested in math or science or baseball or tennis or (fill in the blank here).
Draw on all of those other experiences too! Think about what you learn from each of your activities and find things to apply to your game.
And...
Avoid comparing yourself to others - they aren't on the same path you are! They're on their own path.
Compare yourself, instead, against who you were yesterday. And get one day better. One day closer to your goal.
Learn to love the process. Learn to love where you're at, but also where you're going.
Be you. There's only one you.
Stay frosty, friends.
